The Nodaway Chorale invites local singers of all experience levels to join its fall rehearsals starting Monday, September 21st as the group prepares for its December 6th Holiday Concert.
MARYVILLE, MO — More than 60 singers will gather to begin making music together again—and they're inviting more voices to join them when the Nodaway Chorale begins rehearsals for its annual Holiday Concert on Monday, September 21, at First Christian Church, Third and Buchanan Streets, in Maryville.
Rehearsals are from 7 to 9 p.m. every Monday, beginning September 21, at the church in preparation for the Chorale’s December 6 Holiday Concert.
And there’s room for more voices. The Nodaway Chorale is a nonprofit, non-auditioned, secular mixed-voice chorus welcoming singers from a wide range of backgrounds and communities. Its members include educators, healthcare professionals, businesspeople, writers, pastors, students, retirees, and others who share a love of singing and performing together.
“We’re looking forward to bringing everyone back together and filling the room with music,” said Music Director Jim Rash. “Our numbers continue to grow, and we always welcome people who love to sing. You don’t have to be a professional musician—or even an experienced performer. If you enjoy singing, we’d love to have you join us."
No audition or previous choral experience is required, and prospective singers are welcome to attend the first rehearsal to see what the Chorale is all about.
The upcoming season will feature a diverse mix of holiday music, including familiar sacred and secular selections, along with some lighter moments and holiday humor.
The December concert will continue several popular Chorale traditions. Maryville High School Spectrum Chorus, a longtime musical partner of the Chorale, will return for the eighth consecutive year as Guest Performers, and 10th Street Brass will once again add its distinctive brass sound to the program.
The fall season follows the Chorale’s celebration of its 20th anniversary last spring, marking two decades of bringing singers together and sharing choral music with audiences throughout the region.
“We had an extraordinary 20th Anniversary concert last spring, and now we’re ready to get back to work,” Rash said. “The best part is getting to make music with friends while preparing something special to share with the community.”
