Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville is offering free prostate cancer blood screenings for men across northwest Missouri throughout September and October at various local community locations and events.
MARYVILLE, MO – Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville is encouraging men to take a proactive approach to their health by attending one of several free prostate cancer blood screening events being offered throughout northwest Missouri this fall.
A simple blood test can help detect prostate cancer early, when treatment is often most effective. According to health experts, age, family history, race and certain chemical exposures can increase a person’s risk of developing prostate cancer. Men age 50 and older are encouraged to consider screening.
“Early detection can make a significant difference in treatment outcomes,” said Andre Arsenault, MD, medical oncologist with Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph. “These free screening events provide a convenient opportunity for men to learn more about their prostate health and take an important step toward prevention and early diagnosis.”
Prostate cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among men. The screening consists of a quick blood test and if offered at no cost to participants.
