For the 28th consecutive year, the Arbor Day Foundation has named Maryville a 2025 Tree City USA, recognizing the community's long-term commitment to urban forestry, environmental resiliency, and sustainable infrastructure.

MARYVILLE, MO - The Arbor Day Foundation has named Maryville a 2025 Tree City USA, marking the 28th year the city has received this honor for its commitment to urban forestry.

To achieve Tree City USA recognition, Maryville met four core standards: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and participating in an Arbor Day celebration.

"Tree champions like Maryville are leading the way in a growing movement to shape a better future with trees and action," said Michelle Saulnier, Vice President of Programs at the Arbor Day Foundation. Saulnier emphasized that trees act as critical infrastructure by improving air quality and building community resiliency.

The Tree City USA program, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, is operated in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.

For more information on the program, residents can contact the Maryville City Clerk's office or the Arbor Day Foundation at 402-216-9307.
