Five new public art pieces will be installed in Downtown Maryville the week of May 4th, featuring works curated by Downtown Maryville and installed through a partnership between the city and Northwest Technical School students.

MARYVILLE, MO – Five new sculptures will be installed in downtown Maryville this year, as unveiled at the April 27 City Council Meeting. The announcement was made by Kim Mildward, President of the Maryville Downtown Improvement Organization, DBA Downtown Maryville, which curates the rotating display of public art each year.

Mildward thanked the City Council for sponsoring the sculptures each year and praised the City's ongoing commitment to public art. “The City’s support ensures that downtown Maryville remains a vibrant and engaging space for residents and visitors,” Mildward said. “Public art not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of our community but also fosters creativity and a sense of place.”

The five sculptures selected for this year’s display include:

  • Nibbles by Mark Hall – to be installed on the Main Street Pedestal
  • Gem by Jeff Satter – to be placed at 4th and Buchanan
  • Canine Condos by Jeff Satter and Jim Clark – to be located in the Pocket Park
  • Spring Study 1 by James and Ryan Pedersen – to be installed on the 3rd Street Pedestal
  • Kaleidoscope by James and Ryan Pedersen – to be featured on the 4th Street Pedestal

The current sculptures will remain on display for a limited time before their removal to make way for the new installations.

The delivery and pick-up window for sculptures is scheduled for the week of May 4th, allowing students from Northwest Technical School, along with City Maintenance staff, to coordinate the installations. Their involvement provides hands-on experience in project coordination and installation, furthering educational opportunities while supporting public art initiatives.

This annual sculpture program continues to bring dynamic public art to downtown Maryville, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to engage with unique artistic expressions while reinforcing the City’s dedication to fostering a thriving cultural landscape.
